The Harbour Master’s House will be offering guests an opportunity to live and learn about the endlessly interesting history of the city during a 4-hour introductory walking tour. By visiting some of the more renowned local landmarks in Port Elizabeth, The Harbour Master’s House hopes to achieve a level of historical enlightenment unlike any other backpackers, while still maintaining the crucial element of fun, entertainment and comfort. The Harbour Master’s House, with dorms, private and family rooms alike (each with their own original ornamental fireplace), an entertainment area, communal kitchens and incredible dining room, bar and parlour, and 180 degree balcony views of the harbour, is unique in its quirky style and historical significance.

In the event of notification of cancellation, the following cancellation fee shall apply on the Total Accommodation Charges:
More than 30 days prior to arrival : 25% cancellation fee
More than 7 days prior to arrival : 50% cancellation fee
Less than 7 days prior to arrival : 100% cancellation fee
All December, January and Iron man bookings require a 100% non-refundable payment.

Check out from 07:00 to 10:00 .
Payment upon arrival by credit cards, debit cards.

DONT STAY! Hostel itself is nice in beutiful historical building. But the district is almost no go zone. Maybe it was nice district in past but not anymore. I got almost mugged 2 times during two days. And it is nothing interesting to see and do anyway. Choose Summerstrand district instead - it is beutiful and mainly safe there.
Sorry owners, you did your best and I apperciate it, but I can not recommend it to other travellers.

This is a beautiful building, set within walking distance to the centre. However, the dorm I stayed in was small, with no individual lights. Not divided into male and female,despite having dorms empty. Kitchen is basic. There were no facilities for food or drink. I arrived in the evening and could not even get a drink. There is no restaurant or bar and the vending machine was empty.
One member of staff on reception was very helpful. `potential to be a great place but needs some TLC.

An amazing stay, our room was clean and had fresh crisp linen. We had a breath taking view from our balcony looking over the harbour. We were given a great recommendation for dinner a short drive from the hostel which we really enjoyed..
