Jaba Jan is the perfect place to disconnect from the loud city life and reconnect with yourself, friends, and/or family. Here you can experience different types of nature. The hostel is surrounded by the jungle, and we have access to 5 private beaches and a river, right in our backyard. By kayak, you can access a magic mangrove, our secret peace of heaven on earth. By a little walk or swimming by the river, you can reach the river mouth, where the river meets the sea. On top of it, you can have a great view of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
We organize a lot of group activities, such as our classic pizza night, made in our traditional pizza oven. We also have yoga every morning and afternoon, and dance classes very often. It is the perfect opportunity to meet fellow travelers and spend a delightful time.
We have available breakfast, lunch, and dinner at a friendly price, always with vegetarian and vegan options, as well as a variety of drinks and snacks. There is a shared kitchen, fully equipped.
Find us just 3km away from Palomino, right after San Salvador´s river bridge.

I am genuinely shocked that this Hostel is so highly rated. I booked 2 nights here and left first thing in the morning. The rooms are extremely hot with no ventilation, no mosquito nets, and one tiny fan for a 6 person dorm. I have been traveling for 3 months and have never slept in a room as hot as this one. When I woke up there were 3 guests sleeping outside due to the heat. While the hostel has a private beach, it is a 10 minute walk away and the actual hostel grounds are extremely muggy and full of mosq

This place has tons of potential but a ways to go. Unfortunately I think they’ve been gaming the reviews as it was listed as a 9+ and it just isn’t.
There was no fan or bug net available for my stay (it is hot and humid),no lockers for my things and it was not very clean.
The property is nice, the breakfast was solid and the staff was accommodating.
Overall I think this place could be really special with some improvements.

Great stay at Jaba Jan Hostel. The secluded beach is stunning. The area has lots of wildlife around, we spotted several monkeys. The hostel runs lots of events, pizza/Karaoke/movie nights and the staff are super friendly. They offer tasty meals of reasonable portions. Its possible to walk to Palomino via the beach and they can arrange a tuk tuk for you, this SHOULD be 10k. Only downside is there's a fair amount of drug use at the hostel this didn't bother us but something to consider.
