Central Park West Hostel has just been renovated and has one of the best locations yet. Located at the heart of one of the most prestigious neighbourhoods in the city, we offer a unique experience of New York City.
We maintain the highest quality of accommodation and service.
With spacious rooms (some that include a private bathroom), a private lounge intended for the hostel guests only, a lobby and café area, luggage storage, and (soon to come) our roof deck, this hostel is definitely the place to be.
You can start your day in our café or spend time relaxing in the lounge.
Located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, we’re walking distance from practically everything. We’re two minutes away from the nearest subway, four minutes away from some of the most famous bars and pubs, five minutes from shops, restaurants and movie theatres, seven minutes from Central Park, 10 minutes from the Museum of Natural History, 12 minutes from Riverside Park and much more.

Pluses: 1) Rooms are shared with one other person.
2) Free coffee.
Minuses: 1) No lockers in the room. This means you either have to trust the person you’re sharing with or keep all your stuff in a locked room on the 1st floor.
2) Arthur, the receptionist, was personable but then he tried to over charge me on the 2nd night. When I asked why he said he could give it to me for the same price. I assume he would have pocketed the extra money.
3) Often no one on reception
Need more characters!

What to expect here:
- rooms are shared with just one other person
- no lockers for belongings
- no wifi in room
- mattresses old and gappy
- Cat pee smell in room
- old cherry pips in corner of room
- surfaces sticky
- Hair on sheets
- No soap in bathroom
- toilet paper may run out
- no hot water
- there was a window in my room but it did not open, nor let light in: next to a brick wall

I think the beds in jail would have been more comfortable. If you need a place to go it’s fine but should be the last resort.
