Hostelling International Boston – Chinatown is a new hostel, just opened in June 2012 in a great central location near Boston Common, Chinatown, the subway and most of the city’s sights. This clean, modern and purpose-built hostel offers personal lights and power sockets at each bed and a ‘great atmosphere and lots of kitchen and common space for socialising, cooking, playing games or doing work on the free Wi-Fi’, according to one Hostelworld user. We like that this hostel is actively environmentally friendly.

Hostelling International Boston opened its doors in June 2012. Centrally located, we have easy access public transit, although we are an easy 10-15 minute walk to just about anything you would want to see downtown Boston!
Designed for the modern hosteller, our dorm rooms feature locker units that provides privacy, personal shelves, a reading light and power outlets. We offer male, female, and coed dorms that range in size.
Individual bathrooms are located just outside each room in the hallway. All guests receive complimentary linens, pillows, and towel. Bathrooms are equipped with hair dryers and soap. Our private rooms have an en-suite bath and television. Guests also have access to free Wi-Fi. Hostel commons spaces include TV room, laundry facilities and guest lounge with furniture spaced for physical distancing.
Our lobby features a coffee bar and baked goods.

Super clean and tidy. The location is amazing

This hostel was a great place to stay - super location and within walking distance of a lot of the best spots. It was clean and I felt safe there despite travelling alone. They provide towels and even clean bathmats in each bathroom - I’ve never had this before in a hostel! Loved that breakfast was included too. If I’d been staying longer I would have taken advantage of the free tours and events advertised around the hostel as these looked great fun. Only negative was the very thin walls…

The room was uncomfortably hot during my stay, and unfortunately, there was no way to adjust the temperature as the lower key was missing. The lack of temperature control forced me to check out one day earlier than planned, as I needed proper sleep. It's clear from previous reviews that this issue is not new, yet it has not been resolved.
Another issue was with the door key, which randomly failed to work several times, causing inconvenience.
