The old town of Locarno begins just behind our hostel in the Palagiovani (Youth Palace). At its centre is the Piazza Grande, where events such as Moon&Stars and the Film Festival conjure up an enchanting evening atmosphere against a backdrop of ancient façades in the summertime. During the day, Lake Maggiore and the turquoise waters in the romantic river valleys of the hinterlands attract visitors. If you prefer to see all of the sights from above, head on up to the Madonna del Sasso pilgrimage church in Orselina and then begin the ascent up to the summit of Cardada, Locarno's local mountain. Here, you can enjoy a view of both the highest and lowest points of Switzerland at once – just like the birds of prey at the local falconry.

Staff is really nice and helpful. It's a good place to stay just for a couple nights. About the restaurant (specially for breakfast) if you compared it to others Youth Hostels in Switzerland, here they offer just th basic.

We enjoyed being greeted by Andrea, Mr Personality. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you.
Just like to mention that on the last day there was a group of young men, probably drunk, that were making a huge racket outside. A bit hard to sleep.

Pretty great. Clean rooms with comfy beds and great water pressure; decent internet speeds, breakfast included, nice neighborhood right across the street from Lidl, the bus stops, and many restaurants. Fun atmosphere. The staff was excellent-super friendly and very helpful. Only complaint was there’s no fan in the rooms, and it was HOT. (Also, take the train or the 7 bus from the station. The 1 bus drops you off a ten minute uphill walk to the hostel). I’d totally stay here again.
