The Jungfraujoch, the area around the Aletsch Glacier and the infamous north face of the Eiger draw visitors from around the world to the Bernese Oberland every year. The youth hostel in Grindelwald is just as international and multifaceted, accommodating thrill-seekers, mountaineers, skiers and tourists in groups or as solo travellers. At the foot of the legendary three peaks sits a trio of houses with offerings for a wide range of holiday wishes – whether in the rustic and cosy chalet, the bright and modern new-build, or the romantic, tucked-away forest hut. A particular treat is our 'hot pot', a large, outdoor hot tub that offers wellness with a view, in any weather.

Up a steep hill and the last bus that goes up is at 6pm. There’s a lot of children and families. However the view from the hostel dorms is breathtaking and makes up for all of that.

Free breakfast was the best part by a mile, no complaints whatsoever about that. Warning: -according to this hostel… mixed rooms mean mixed mens, the hostel staff advised “all Swiss” hostels are like this, which I doubt very much, so be weary of this when/if booking. -hostel staff are barely present. Can’t check in till 4pm..! -dryer doesn’t work. -kids are also allowed to stay at this hostel, they were and disruptive for the most part.

I had a great time at Grindelwald hostel ! The location was perfect, only a 10 minute if that, walk away from the village. Met some beautiful people there. Stunning views ! Highly recommend
