The casual majlis (meeting room) off the lobby where breakfast is served makes a good place to hang out after a hot day's sightseeing.
The rooms themselves have high ceilings, wooden floorboards, large windows and French doors leading onto balconies, and there are shared bathrooms and rooms with own bathrooms and toilets apart from the dorm room. Helpful stuff gives his guests plenty of advice about visiting Cairo and other parts of Egypt . The Meramees is certainly one of the more friendly options around down town.

Staff was superfriendly, humorous and helpful, I got right away a cozy feeling when arriving. They even gave a private room for the dorm at the same price, just to make me happy. It was really nice atmosphere there. Only negative thing is that the lightning in the rooms was bit harsh if u have affect on migren. Oh and remember earplugs if ure not good in sleeping cause of the traffc, but that´s like all around in Cairo.

We are family of 4 with 2 kids below 12 years old. Based on the online review and good rating of Meramees Hostel, we booked for 4 nights stay.
- clean room and average receptionist, convenient location in down town area.
- Seldom see anyone, very small cozy balcony in the hall, unsecured feelings that anyone can just enter the building anytime; worst, painting in the corridor during our last day makes our room with no windows so dusty.
