I stayed at Kandy Krush Hostel for one night and had a great time. The hosts are very kind and organized a cooking class in the evening, which made it easy to meet other travelers. They also helped me get a tuk tuk early in the morning and even prepared a takeaway breakfast for my train ride to Ella! It’s about a 20-minute walk to the city center and the train and bus stations, so I recommend getting a tuk tuk when you arrive. The rooms were fine, and the view is amazing.

I think there's a lot of room to grow and improve for this hostel, and I also think (hope) that the staff actually cares to do it. I ave them some honest feedback for some improvement. My (and only) top bunk was hard to access with a tiny ladder. And once you climb in it's tricky not to get loads of splinters from the rough edges of the plywood. Everyday (I think) there's the option to join a group cooking sessions, which sounds lovely. For access, follow Reservoir Road to the end and continue.
