Hotel Il Mercante di Venezia

Our room was tiny, and did not look at all like the images, and was not in good condition. There was black mold behind the curtains and bed side tables. The mold was washed away after we mentioned it at the reception, but the bad smell stayed. Shower corner did not work properly and kept jumping off from its rails, there was no table, stool was broken. Location was great, and staff nice. Especially the young lady at the reception spoke very good English and was helpful.

I was amazed at how simple it was to get from the train station to this location. If you are dealing with luggage, are a 'newbie' to Venice or just don't want to hassle with finding your way around, this is a great place. All the staff was super friendly and helpful. Both with property issues but as well as answering questions about things like where to buy ACTV tickets and the like. It is an older hotel which for me was a good thing but for others might not? I would absolutely stay here again.

This was a great place to stay. The big bonus was the helpfull staff.
