Wombats City Hostel was rated the most popular in Munich at the 2017 Hoscars and we’re not surprised. This friendly hostel offers a lot of nice extras to guests, such as parking in the basement, a fully-stocked bar and a frequently praised all-you-can-eat breakfast. We particularly like the hammocks and bean bags in their glass-roofed courtyard, where travellers can relax even during poor weather. They’re located just 10 minutes’ walk from the Oktoberfest and most sights in the city centre, as well as near the U-Bahn and international trains at the Hauptbahnhof.

The famous Wiesn, where the even more famous Octoberfest takes place, is only a 10-minute walk away and the old town is even closer, perfect for exploring on foot. Stachus (Karlsplatz), the favourite square of travellers and locals alike, with its lively pedestrian shopping streets, is literally just around the corner.
Munich's other sights are also easily accessible, thanks to our proximity to the main train station.
The Englischer Garten is easily accessible, one of the oldest parks in Europe, twice the size of New York's Central Park, perfect for refuelling after an exciting day in the city.

My staying was great!! Only ”bad” thing was that the room was very hot and the fan didnt help at all. Everything was so nice but for the future i hope that there will be a proper airconditioner. How ever, i loved staying in wombats!

Easy to find, almost right next to the central railway station. One complaint would be that out of the 6 people in our dorm not one of us could figure out how the security lockers work.

The rooms were nice and clean and the living room was comfortable place for hanging out with other travellers. The kitchen had everything you need and the breakfast was definitely worth 5,90€. Unfortunately the wifi didn't work properly in dorms. And most of the stuff in the reception wasn't quite friendly. They had an annoyed tone on their voice or then they didn't say hello, thank you etc. We were quite surprised when we checked in and got an annoyed look on us. But not all of them were alike!

Wombat's City Hostel Munich Hauptbahnhof sanoo
We're right next to the Old Town so all the attractions are close! The one place we definitely recommend that guests visit is the Hofbräuhaus, obviously. That's why everyone comes to town - but we'd recommend not spending a lot of time with a tourist trap. Munich also has one of Europe's oldest public parks, the Englischer Garten. It's twice the size of New York's Central Park, has a lake, a standing wave for surfers, a nude beach and no less than four huge beer gardens.
The main age group of our guests is 19 to 29, like in almost every other hostel. In contrast to these, though, we don't only attract one set of people. Quite a lot of our guests don't usually stay in hostels but give it a try at wombat's because we've been recommended. We've seen couples in their 50s, or families, and they were just as satisfied as the 19-year-old American college kid who spends most of his time, err, getting wasted at the hostel bar. The highlight of the Hostel is the 'Wintergarten', an air-conditioned glass-roofed patio with great design furniture to hang out and chillax.
